Cynthia Haven is a National Endowment for the Humanities Public Scholar and author of Evolution of Desire: A Life of René Girard. She has published books on poets Czesław Miłosz and Joseph Brodsky and has contributed to the New York Times Book Review, the Nation, the Wall Street Journal, the Virginia Quarterly Review, the Washington Post, the Los Angeles Times, and other publications.
Her Penguin Modern Classics anthology for the selected writings of René Girard, All Desire is a Desire for Being, was published in 2023.
